Welcome to the Children’s Trauma Initiative

Beginning in 2008, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Children’s Trauma Initiative (CTI) began providing training and coaching to Community Mental Health Services Programs (CMHSPs) and their provider agencies.

We work with CMHSPs and their provider agencies in each of the 83 counties in Michigan.

The Essential Elements of the Children’s Trauma Initiative

The essential elements of the Children’s Trauma Initiative include training and coaching in evidence-based treatments including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), trauma screening and trauma assessment, and Caregiver Education (NCTSN’s Resource Parent Curriculum).

CTI works with our network of national TF-CBT and CPP training consultants, and Caregiver Education master and statewide trainers to ensure effective and efficient training and technical assistance for CMHSPs and their provider agencies involved in the MDHHS Children’s Trauma Initiative.

The essential elements supported by the initiative serve children and their families from birth through 18 years of age.
